This charming, one-of-a-kind sock monkey was a Christmas gift from my daughter, Amanda. She secretly went on-line and found a sock monkey pattern, then found a monkeyish sock at the local K-Mart, and did her designing when I wasn't home. Amanda is a writer, and doesn't think of herself as an artist (although she is quite good) and really doesn't enjoy sewing so creating Elsa was a true labor of love.
Elsa arrived naked, so I recently made her little wardrobe with some soy-batik fabric and a little red felt; the buttons are actually covered brads. Thanks Amanda!!
Elsa is darling and needs some beach attire for the months ahead..how tall is she and around the hips how broad is she...thinking out lound again i might have someting for her....i used to make removable cloth doll clothes about 14 " tall and even made hangers ....tell Amanda she is wonderful

ReplyDeleteI LOVE Elsa! Tell Amanda she's a writer AND artist -- and there's one more thing we have in common: I made a sock monkey family. I always wanted a sock monkey when I was little so I made my own family of them when I grew up!! Now several of them live with various family members of course but I still have a few sitting on a bench in my tiny entry way. I'll snap a photo and post on my blog for Amanda. (Elsa has cousins in Texas!!) Her clothes are wonderful too Edz. You and Amanda don't laugh too hard when I get mine posted... the Oregon/Texas cousins aren't as sophisticated as the New York Elsa... *giggles*
